OAKLAND, CA — Over the past year and a half, California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters) has engaged in extensive research and experimentation with the concept of a 4-Day Work Week. Today, we are thrilled to announce the official launch of the next phase of our pilot program, which represents a significant step towards creating more sustainability for our team.
“EnviroVoters is excited to announce a new pilot to implement a 4-day (32 hour) work week. As a global community, we are not going to create a more sustainable future in an unsustainable way. We know that the climate crisis was born out of unchecked capitalism and a constant push to extract more, produce more, and consume more. At EnviroVoters, we don’t want to unintentionally replicate this outcome driven by our passion to create a climate-just future,” said Mary Creasman, EnviroVoters’ Chief Executive Officer. “The nature of our work around elections, policy advocacy, and the climate crisis is high stakes and fast paced, with lots of rapid response. To fight against burnout of our team members, we have been exploring ways to innovate how we do things, including these added down times to create balance. While we know this initiative will have bumps as we experiment with strategies to improve our efficiency and mission delivery, we are hopeful that this work will encourage others in their pursuit of a values-driven workplace.”

ABOUT CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL VOTERS
California Environmental Voters (formerly the California League of Conservation Voters) believes the climate crisis is here and this moment requires transformative change. California has the policy solutions to stop climate change but lacks the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s necessary. EnviroVoters exists to build the political power to solve the climate crisis, advance justice, and create a roadmap for global action. We organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change. We won’t stop until we have resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.
